R. Kelly Claims He’s Written 25 Albums in Prison: “I’m Always Singing”

A Prolific Output Behind Bars

Disgraced R&B singer R. Kelly, currently serving a 30-year prison sentence for sex trafficking and racketeering, has revealed that he has written 25 albums during his incarceration. In a recent phone interview on the "Inmate Tea With A&P" podcast, Kelly stated, “I’ve written like 25 albums since I’ve been in here. And right now I’m just working on getting out and getting back to what it is God gave me, my talent.”

Kelly described singing as a "beautiful disease that’s uncurable," emphasizing that he continues to sing and write music daily, despite his imprisonment.

Legal Battles and Convictions

Kelly's musical endeavors come amid ongoing legal challenges. In 2021, he was convicted on multiple counts of racketeering and sex trafficking. The following year, he was found guilty of producing child pornography and enticing minors. A federal appeals court recently upheld his 30-year sentence, rejecting arguments about trial evidence and juror bias.

Public Reaction and Future Prospects

The revelation of Kelly's continued musical output has sparked outrage among the public and advocacy groups. Many view his actions as a lack of remorse for his crimes. While Kelly hopes to release his new material, it's uncertain whether any record label would collaborate with him, given his convictions and the public backlash.

As Kelly remains incarcerated, the future of his unreleased music and his legacy in the music industry remain contentious topics.
